It’s 3 pm on a Friday in the Silicon Valley, you just got out of an extended, unplanned conference room meeting. Traffic is already heating up, your mind is racing with all the things you need to do after work… get gas, pick up the kids, groceries, call the baby sitter, date night!, shoot, make dinner reservations, the list goes on. But first things first, you’ve got wrap up this project, email it to the team, wait for their approval and then get the files off to the corporate web team for posting for the event that starts on Monday at 8 am. As you check your email, you suddenly realize that your design vendor holds your immediate (and also possible long-term) future in their hands. Did they send the link on time as promised? Is it good? Will your team approve? Will you be stuck there all night?
4 Indirect Benefits You Should be Getting from your Design Team
1. Piece of Mind
We’ve all been in similar situations and if you’ve partnered with the right team, it’s in the bag. Stress levels are kept in check and your chiropractor is wondering why you don’t call anymore. When you know and trust the team that always delivers on time and with superior quality, you can relax and handle the other 99 things that you’ve got to do today.
If time is money, then how do you buy time? Well, maybe you bought it when you scheduled an hour long webex to go through all the changes, but the design team takes all the feedback and provides solutions all in 17 minutes. You just bought 43 minutes. Or maybe it’s when they nail it in round 1 and you’d assumed it would take at least three rounds. You just bought 3 days. Or maybe it’s when you learned that the same team that made your stellar video for the event can also turn it into the keynote slide presentation, printed and digital signage, data sheets and fulfill the request for 6000 corporate logoed golf balls and 3 custom crystalline awards for the CEO dinner. Yes, that’s right, you only have to explain your message ONCE, deliver design assets ONCE, and the same project manager updates you all at ONCE on all the pieces of the pie. You just saved 5 kickoff meetings, 15 follow up meetings, and bought tons of time, instead of working with 6 different vendors for all of these deliverables.
Okay, maybe you aren’t the bragging type, but doesn’t it feel good when you get the shout out in the morning meeting for once again pulling through and somehow looking unscathed? Yep, you did that, you SHOULD be proud. They all thought it was an impossible project. NOPE. Downside though, now they know which team member to send those “impossible projects”, but, no sweat, you know where to get it done.
4. Sense of Team
The entire event was just dropped on you, and you alone. It’s only 6 weeks until showtime. You’ve got to handle it all and it better be good. Your agency needs to be your go to team. With one email or phone call, you should feel the support, you should feel like you just grew 10 more hands, 10 more legs, and the 5X brain capacity to handle everything expected and unexpected leading up to the event. The multi-talented team comes to the game with years of experience and many varying skill sets to handle it all!
Going with the right design team, should yield far more than that final deliverable. Far more than scratching that something off your list. If you aren’t getting all of these indirect benefits, you’re missing out on the good stuff. It’s like having your birthday party all by yourself, where’s the love?
